A pandemic is turning people into killing machines. When the origins of the virus are exposed, it turns out to be only the tip of the iceberg. The true problems are just beginning.

“The screeches of the crowd tore at the air. What were they running from? Demir’s brain couldn’t process the scene, and shut itself off. While the images that were coming in through his eyes were funneled into a void, an ancient instinct kicked in. Those people weren’t fleeing. They were hunting.”

While Chief Detective Markus Steller is busy leading a Special Forces operation in downtown Frankfurt, only a few hundred yards off, Demir Kara and his accomplice are robbing a diamond courier. Both get caught up in a jumble of events as the city is suddenly transformed into a madhouse. Spurred on by blind aggression, people start attacking each other mercilessly, tearing to pieces anyone unable to hide. Together with a group of fellow survivors, Steller and Demir try to escape the hellish events.
As the world threatens to descend into chaos, Major General Aila Torbeck, head of the Fenrir research facility, realizes that the wave of brutality sweeping the globe is only the beginning. She and her staff are the only ones who might be able to prevent the impending apocalypse. But Torbeck is also plagued by a very different worry. How is she supposed to save her daughter, Katta, who is on her own in Frankfurt, fighting to survive?

Very refreshing story line. Although plot is a bit far-fetched ( or I'm wrong? ), the characters and their actions are very believable. There's no superheroes who can dodge mutiple bullets, outrun zombies etc etc so it does made me fearful about what I would do in this situation. I dont want to give spoilers here, but I'm really saddened with the ending although when I think about it, it's the best conclusion. Emotional story, yes.
I strongly recommend this book.

Reset eBook Jens Bühler Claudia Aden Reviews

Half of me liked this book but the other half really didn't. The premise was good. The plot was well done. The writing and character building were exceptional. Here comes the "but". I personally don't like books that take you in one direction for almost the entire story then skew off in another direction at the very end. Also I really hated the way this ended. One reviewer said it had to end like that but I disagree, there were many more satisfying ways for this book to end that would have left me feeling good that I had read it. I like my stories to have some redeeming qualities at the end of it. I think the author tried to do this with the short epilogue at the end, but it didn't work for me. So, if you don't mind bleak stories with tragic endings - go for it - you'll love this - it's pretty well done..
Quite frankly, I didn't realize that this was a translation (from German) when I got it. I was actually a fair way in when I realized that it was. Major props to the translator!

As for the story itself, it kept my interest relatively well. Some of the scenarios seemed a bit unlikely, but not enough to make me abandon the tale. I was particularly pleased with the ending.
I really liked this book, it has everything zombie fans like me love! It has a very clever twist, that I found to be refreshing. I can't say to much, because it would ruin it for everyone else. Just a question, what happened to those in the bunker? Book two?
This book has more to it than it would appear on first glance. You'll have to read it yourself to find out what.
Better than expected, but not as good as it could have been. Seemed sorta unsure what it wanted to be, and I guessed the "surprise" ending well in advance, though it was still a good ending. I'm thinking this book probably lost a fair bit of its edge in translation.
The end of the world. Zounds. Aliens and pseudo zombies. No happy endings on this story though. Otherwise quite entertaining
JB has written about a Apocalypse which takes place in Europe. The virus begins in Germany and spreads across Europe at a fast pace making it uncontrollable and no time to develope an antidote. The virus appeared to begin Edith man but the cross over was immediate. This is an excellent read for the genre..... ER
